Another of Jamaica's unknown treasures is Sommerset Falls. It is located in the area of Hope Bay just a bit west of Ken Jones Airport. Sommerset Falls has been so artfully sculpted that you hardly notice that nature has been stabilized and improved upon. The actual falls area is a few hundred yards long and 10 to 100 feet wide. Somehow they have used concrete and boulders to arrange the falls into a pleasant and restful series of falls and pools. Like Reach Falls, Sommerset Falls is set in a steeply walled, cool gorge. 75 or a 100 yards up the series of falls is a cut that's only as wide as the river. A boatman can take you up to the next pool. If he is not around, you should swim to it. You will be surprised by a massive spectacular water fall with a giant cave behind it. 'Dreadlocks' are growing from the ceiling and you can safely jump through the downpouring fall.
