Navy Island

Navy Island is the large island just off the tip of the Titchfield peninsula that separates Port Antonio's East and West Bays. It was once owned by Errol Flynn. There are a dozen or so little bungalows scattered around the island. On the ocean side looking straight along the top of the reef that encloses the West Bay is a white sand beach. You can easily swim out along the reef. If you are a good swimmer, you can swim the 100 or so yards from the Reef Beach to Navy Island. It's a channel that is very deep so the huge banana boats and cruise ships can get into the harbour.

Navy Island although run down still has the charme of an overgrown fairytale place, when you stroll through the islands interior. At the east end you can still find some historic ruins and cannons from the 18th century. At the time of writing, the island is closed to visitors.
